Frequently Asked Questions About Gutters in Florida

Straight answers from a family that’s worked on gutters for 15+ years. Don’t see your question? Call us — we’ll answer it in person.

Costs & Estimates

How much do new gutters cost in the Tampa Bay area?

It depends on your home’s size, roofline complexity, and the options you choose (guards, oversized downspouts, color finishes). Rather than quote a misleading average, we do a free on-site inspection and give you an itemized price for your actual home.

Are your estimates really free?

Yes, and there is no pressure attached. Washington comes out personally, looks at the whole system and tells you what he finds — including when the answer is that you do not need to replace anything yet.

What affects the price most?

Linear feet of gutter, roof height and accessibility, the number of downspouts, and add-ons like gutter guards. The estimate breaks each item out so you can see exactly where the number comes from.

What payment methods do you accept?

We will go over payment options with you at the estimate so everything is clear before work begins.

About Our Company

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Family Gutters is fully licensed and insured, and we are happy to provide documentation before any work begins. We would encourage you to ask that of any contractor you let onto your roof.

Who actually does the work on my home?

Family Gutters is owner-operated: Washington — with 15+ years of hands-on gutter experience — personally inspects every job. You deal with the owner, not a rotating crew of strangers.

Do you speak Spanish or Portuguese?

Yes — English, Portuguese, and Spanish. Falamos português. Hablamos español.

What areas do you serve?

We are based in Land O' Lakes and serve Tampa, Land O' Lakes, Wesley Chapel, New Port Richey, Trinity and San Antonio, plus much of the surrounding Pasco and Pinellas County area. If you do not see your town, call and ask.

Gutters in Florida

Do I really need gutters in Florida?

Yes — more than almost anywhere. Florida gets some of the heaviest rainfall in the country, and without gutters, roof runoff erodes soil, stains exteriors, feeds mold, and pushes water toward your foundation.

How long do gutters last in Florida?

Quality seamless aluminum typically lasts 20+ years here with basic maintenance. Florida sun and rain are hard on sealants and joints, which is why sectional systems fail sooner — and why Maintenance Matters.

What should I do about gutters before hurricane season?

Have them cleaned and inspected before the season starts. A gutter full of wet debris is heavy, and heavy runs are the ones that tear loose in high wind. It is also worth confirming downspouts are securely attached and discharging away from the house. Gutter-Maintenance

What size gutters are best for Florida homes?

Five-inch handles most homes. We recommend 6-inch with larger downspouts on steep roofs, large roof areas or homes under heavy tree cover, because the added capacity handles our rainfall intensity and clogs far less often.

Scheduling & Process

How soon can you come out?

Usually within a few days for an estimate. If you have an active leak or storm damage, say so when you call and we will prioritize it.

How long does a gutter installation take?

Most single-family homes are completed in one day. Larger homes, steep roofs or jobs including gutter guards may run into a second day. We will tell you which yours is at the estimate.

Do I need to be home?

For the estimate it helps, so we can walk the house together. For the work itself you do not need to be there as long as we have exterior access.

How do I schedule?

Call or text us, fill out the form on the contact page, or book a time directly on our online calendar — whichever is easiest for you.

What are your hours?

Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Saturday 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Closed Sunday.
